New changes and New start

my experience working with G&J care has been a great experience and I have no fault what so ever with this company and the carers who work with the company. everyone gets on great and does there job to the full. I have only worked here for a couple of months now but I love my job never a dull moment when you work in care. the new changes to the company have brought it together and made you feel so secure in your job there is a lot of new changes coming up still and all very excited to see what happens. the new office staff are amazing always there for when you need then for a chat always so helpful if you have problems inside and outside of work and they never give up on you when they know that you are good at the position that you work in.
I would say to anyone who I looking for a job in care to come here and apply as you will not be disappointed

Positive changes

I have worked for this company since April 2019. I started as a home carer, now a senior carer. When I started there was a few issues, nothing as bad as some reviews have stated. Both for clients and carers working for G@J Care have improved for the better. New helpful management. I and many other carers employed with G@J care are more than happy with work. As are the clients we care for. The bad reviews for G@J Care are before the management changes happened. I am happy to continue my employment with this company.

This company is brilliant, one of the best companies I have worked for, the clients are well looked after and we build a great bond with them and there families as we have time to sit and chat with them, they get to know us and end we get to know them
I would highly recommend anyone looking for work to come and give this company a try.

Says it all!!

Just says it all that these good reviews were left in the same day when someone mentions on a post that there has been bad reviews left! I have worked for this shit hole of a company and I have to say it's the clients I feel sorry for. They are the reason I stayed as long as I did! If I didn't they would have been left with no care because the manager NEVER goes out or answers calls (the general manager Margaret Meek)... I never even met her! No idea she even worked for the company unit the unions got involved. Julie Stevenson as far as I was aware run things, or didn't more like!
Whenever I called about a clients needing to see a doctor I was told that they would be fine and they were just being dramatic. There was one instance where a client was so ill that I had to call for an ambulance. I was then late for all my other clients as no one would come out to help me and then I was told that I should have called for an ambulance then left the client so that I wouldn't be late for everyone else! Just shows that there is no care or compassion for the clients or their families!! Least of all staff!

Fab Company to work for

I have worked for G&J Care since April this year. During this time I have seen many positive changes to make this a great place to work. I genuinely look forward to coming to work each day. We have a fab office team and a great team of carers. The team we have in place now really go above and beyond to ensure they deliver the best care to our clients. We have so many more great things happening in the business to make it an even better place to work , I'm excited for the future of G&J Care.

AMAZING CARING STAFF, GREAT WORKING ENVIRONMENT

I started with G&J care in March 2019 as an
Assessment Co-Ordinator based in the office, my position is great I get to go out with the carers and meet the new clients that are coming on board, and we make sure that all their requirement's are met and put in place before they come home from hospital .I enjoy my time at G&J Care that much I have 100% recommended it to friends who are now also enjoying their experience. I am currently the General Manager and I have to say that the comments below are unjustified, especially as they are anonymous, during my time with G&J care I have no knowledge of any of the comments below happening, and I take great offence to the comments about the office staff, as I have never witnessed any of this. So to round it off if you are looking for a happy family atmosphere to work in , come and work with a great team and you will not be disappointed.

Great company to work for!!

Worked for this company for over a year now. It's a brilliant company to work for. Office staff bend over backwards for their carers. Our clients are given high quality care, would never work anywhere else. Can't believe the comments below!!

G&J (Don't) Care

The most unprofessional, unempthatic, even dangerous company - Unfortunately being a carer for a period of time with them is the only way you realise how true this is.

Carers receive little training (unpaid), no support in and out of the job. Nothing towards travel or millage expenses. YYou will start at 6.45 in the morning and will not be finished until after 9pm. Also you will have X number of gaps through the day it works out you will only be paid for roughly 6 of those hours or less.

I had 1 year previous Care experience from about 5 years before. So I was not in any way current or practiced in any basic training required for working in clients homes.

I was told to come for training day before my first day out with the clients. I sat for almost 4 hours for the "trainers" to be ready as they sat at their desks mostly chatting and telling stories of their experiences with clients (most was to their amusement of clients with alcohol issues or dramatic arguments that has happened previous) After the long wait I was given a 15m run around of equipment and moving and handling and then handed a homemade moving and handling certificate. No first aid, medication, catheter or dementia training(all I have received and more in an intensive week long PAID course from my previous company)

This whole day of training and the travel of 50+ miles was unpaid. Their explanation for unpaid training is that its mandatory but free or we can be paid for it but then you have to pay back the company the money earned and then some...

I was out shadowing for half a day (shadowing a fellow new carer who had only started a week before) , met some of my clients but not all of them and then was left solo from then on.

In my time I seen many clients left without care, sometimes for days who were high risk to themselves or unmobile. Staff bullied into covering shifts so the manager on duty could stay at home. The office is extremely bitchy and uneffective.
If you care for your family AVOID

DONT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE

The owner is a bully and should not be allowed a company! No support for staff or clients. She ignores calls she knows will be troublesome and complaints are not documented! Staff do not get any training and staff turnover is the worst I've ever seen (says it all) she will rather leave clients without care than go out and cover herself (happened on many occasions where clients were left as much as 3 days with no care!!)

Stay Clear

Wouldn't waste you're time applying for any job advertised with G&J care. The manager tells nothing but lies from start to finish, you soon learn this within days of working for her and to top it all off she doesn't pay you, for what you have worked but if you do receive a pay from her you don't always get it on the day you are supposed to get it to be paid it could be days later. Avoid

TERRIBLE COMPANY TO WORK FOR

G & J Care advertised for carers for leslie and glenrothes I phoned got a interview the same day got the job and got induction training which no one gets paid for. I was sitting waiting for a start for 2 months to go out shadowing in a different area to give me hours which I appreciated but was told I would always be paired with a driver as i dont drive. I was given a lift there every shift but sometimes dropped off and to walk between service users. I alsoa had a 3 hour gap where I had to sit in a car park until teas as the other employees went home. I couldn't go home as couldnt travel on bus back and forth in time. When informing the manager that I would bo linger be able to work as there was no hours In the area I applied for, I then was due to be paid on the last Wednesday if the month and when wages did not go in I waited until lunchtime as other staff members said sometimes it was late in, when speaking to the office I was spoke to in a rude and abrupt manner and told they couldnt get peace to sort out finances as everyone kept phoning about therr wages but told they would be in later that day. I phoned back and was informed by a senior that wages would be paid the next day the wages then did not go in again and I requested support from Acas and I did phone again to say they were waiting in money to be released and they only managed to pay half the staff the day before. I have now applied and had interviews a d now been informed that G & J care have gave me a bad reference I am disgusted to have been treated this way for being honest and obviously distressed as I have a wife and four children to support. I left a perfectly good job to go into my dream job and this has left me unemployed disappointed a unemployable as been given a bad reference for leaving a job that was not organised. I hope that the company should learn from this and no other employee is treated the way I have been treated

Would never change, they are ++++++++++

They look after my gran, we had somebody from another home care provider looking after her, she was dirty looking when G & J care came in, they asked her what she would like, a nice bubble bath and an hour later and gran was back, not only that but they are highly trained and I recieved a call from Julie saying the carer thought gran had a urine infection had tested the ursine and she did, so antibiotics were given much sooner. The same carers go to gran week in and week out, on,y 3 of them but she loves them all and I like her trust them implicably
