Calvert Trust Kielder

Northumbria University meets Calvert Trust...

I can't stress how amazing the Calvert Trust is!

Last week, I and a colleague took 27 Business & Law students from Newcastle Business and Law School (Northumbria University). We didn't expect anything as good as what we experienced!

We were AMAZED at how our 3 days went with the Calvert Trust team! Both staff and students were spoilt over the course of the 3 days, with excellent accommodation, homely & wholesome food, and a superb team to look after us!

Although we didn't see much sunshine, the weather didn't cause any problems and all activities were very fun and could be tailored to all individual's needs. All instructors were a pleasure and very helpful throughout the 3 days, we can't thank them enough (Please pass on our thanks to all of the team!). It was great for our students to experience all of the activities tailored towards various different disabilities, which definitely changed their views and increased their respect towards people with disabilities. We really enjoyed being able to socialise with the respite guests during our stay and hope they also enjoyed our company.

The facilities were far more than we expected - We felt like we were staying in a hotel! The students had more than enough to keep them occupied on an evening after tea (Pool, Table Tennis, Swimming, Sauna, Board Games etc, general socialising with other guests and much more).

All of us were more than happy with the large choice of homely foods which we ate throughout the 3 days, with 3 meals a day, even including a fried breakfast on a morning! Hot & cold drinks are regularly available, as well as a bar offering a great selection of alcoholic (and non) drinks on an evening (at a very fair price too!)

As I'm close to running out of space to write, I'll finish off by saying a big THANK YOU to everyone involved in making our stay so memorable and running smoothly!

Fantastic, home from home for all families.

We have 2 sons with special needs, our eldest is 4 and youngest is 3. We love coming down to Kielder for a week, there is no phone signal and no internet connection in the chalets and we love that we can just spend some quality time as a family. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. The facilities are great, we love that we can book the hydrotherapy pool & sensory room for as long as we want and they are exclusive to us. We try & get down for a weeks break twice a year. We haven't yet done any of the activities as we usually come during the winter months but I have heard great things about them. We really can't recommend Kielder enough for a family holiday.

Accommodation

A big thank you to the staff, the chef's and especially the friends we made whilst we stayed at Calvert Trust, while we built the Snow tube at Leaplish Water park.
We did not know what to expect but we found that we soon were made welcome and had some good time's. Playing pool, Table Tennis and chatting to the residents at the centre. Hope to see you guy's when we come to dismantle the snow tube in January.

many thanks

Brilliant and a good experience

I came here on a trip with other kids with hearing impairments. The staff was friendly and very helpful, they were easy to get along with. The activities were very fun and exciting and shows that having a disability doesn't have to stop anyone doing all these amazing things. Everything about the place was brilliant. I didn't want to leave and I intend on going back,

Groundbreaking, lifechanging affirming and...

Of the tens of care environments I've experienced, the CTK is the best. An outdoor activities centre for disabled people, the staff have an excellent professional but relaxed and accommodating relationship with guests. Needs are met with the minimum of fuss by experienced and well trained carers. Accommodation is great and the activities are something else. Do come, the water's fine! (I know I'm being effusive, but the difference at CTK is that it's true and not just rhetoric!)
