Red Rocks Nursing Home

very homely and personal care home

Our mother went into Red Rocks care home from home last November following a stay in hospital then a care package at home. The home package did not work for us as we found we were having to "pick up the pieces " from the carers so Mum herself decided she wanted to go into a care home for a couple of weeks to recuperate.
After the couple of weeks she decided she would like to stay over Christmas 2017 to save our family worrying about her then in January this year Mum said she would like to stay permanently as she realised she could no longer cope living by herself.
Through all this time we had no end of support from the staff at Red Rocks and there was no question of her not being able to stay . This support has continued now and this is important to us as a family as we do not live close enough to visit every week but when we do visit there is always a welcome chat and tea and biscuits provided.

The other lovely thing is the fact the chefs use local produce and all the meals are freshly cooked . if Mum doesn't like a particular food there is always an alternative and nothing is too much trouble.

My Mother's last three years at Red Rocks Nursing...

My Mother of 102 years spent the last three years of her life at Red Rocks Nursing Home (RRNH).Prior to RRNH she lived alone but was well looked after by relatives and neighbours and she was a very independent lady. The staff at RRNH were excellent at adapting her care to her needs and she quickly considered RRNH to be her home.As a retired doctor I was extremely impressed by the team spirit and cheerful and friendly attitude of all the staff. I am sure this is due to the example set by Mr Michael Vaughan and the way in which he leads his team. There is regularly something, if they so wish, to entertain the individual resident and keep the mind alert and the residents are treated as individuals. The medical care was of a very high standard and there are regular visits by local GPs. The nurses would always report to the relatives in a speedy and accurate way any significant comments made by the GPs. The cleanliness and hygiene of the establishment are of a very high standard. As a doctor I have visited a number of nursing homes in the region where I live, i.e. Gloucestershire, and can state that very few, if any, of these nursing homes meet the high standards set by RRNH and I would not have wished my Mother to be anywhere else other than RRNH. The family atmosphere at RRNH and the genuine affection shown by staff to the residents is very reassuring to visiting relatives and friends.

It impossible for me to find any fault

Red Rocks is a Home with great quality staff, who really do care about the residents - there is no pretence about it. They are all very welcoming and understanding with new residents, being very aware that some people have a very hard time adjusting. Mr Vaughan is a genius at choosing his staff who really do care.

Everywhere is beautifully kept and absolutely immaculate. The food here is delicious, in fact, every time my son in law sees one of my meals, he announces that he is booking his
place at RRs.

We have varied activities and I particularly enjoyed a trip to Liverpool Museum to see the Terracotta Warriors on loan from China.

It is impossible for me to find any fault. My family are delighted that I am so well cared for. No effort is spared in the care of all the residents.

I am happy to be here and I am also content that my family are happy for me to be here and so well looked after. This eases my mind a great deal.

I'm thrilled and delighted

Whilst I was in hospital, I recognised that as a recent widower, who had reached the stage where I was no longer able to manage at home due to changed health circumstances, I needed much more care and support.

Due to the urgency of my hospital discharge, my daughter was fortunate enough to discover this lovely building, set, quite literally, on the very edge of the Wirral Peninsular. Red Rocks is a home which provides full, quality nursing care in what is truly a "home" environment.

I cannot believe how lucky I am. I have to say, I am thrilled and delighted to be a resident. Every member of staff is extremely kind and considerate and assists me with all of my many health problems.

The whole home is immaculately clean and all my needs are fully catered for. The building is warm and the furnishings and fittings are of a very high quality. Most important, in my opinion, is the availability of privacy when desired. The food is prepared by expert chefs and cooks and there is a choice which also includes meeting your dietary needs.

Interesting days out are arranged and programmes are planned in-house to stimulate the mind.

In summary, Red Rocks is a beautiful Home which really cares for it's residents.

Two years of bliss

I moved in to Red Rocks in March 2107 and I upgraded my room in Febuary this year. The home has a very happy, family atmosphere and the staff are always very, pleasant and helpful.

I personally, have a lovely spacious room on the ground floor with a fantastic view from the window of the Dee Estuary, towards Hilbre Island and North Wales in the distance. The many sunsets are spectacular.

The food is nutritious and of a good quality with plenty of choice. The other day we had carpaccio of beef, crusted sea bass and strawberry parfait.

The home is always immaculately clean and tidy and I feel that I am always treated with dignity.

My experience so far..

I am a fairly new resident here, having moved in at the beginning of the month. I have found that the staff are very nice and helpful and Red Rocks is very homely.

I met the owner who made me feel most welcome.

The food is exceptional, especially the beef gravy! The home is always kept very clean. I feel happy and safe.

My home for the last 8 years

I have been a resident at Red Rocks since 2011. My room, which is lovely has a wonderful, direct view of Red Rocks beach and Hilbre Island. This is a place that I have known all my married life and where I brought my children to play on the beach when they were young. It has been such an important part of my life for so long and meant so much to me to be able to come here. I love the view across the estuary to North Wales and watching the tide and the birds come and go. I can understand why Sir Peter Scott came here so often.
The care I receive is excellent and I feel that I am always treated with respect as a person. This is something that a nursing home should have and something that hospitals do not always manage.
I enjoy the food, it is like really good home cooking and there is always plenty and everywhere is extremely clean and well maintained. I am very happy here.

Top Class Facility

The Red Rocks facility is top class in a range of areas. The nurses and carers are extremely caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. My brother-in-law was very well looked after throughout his stay, particularly in the later stages of his life when palliative, end of life care was so important. The accommodation was excellent and spotlessly clean. The nursing, caring and administrative staff were also courteous, warm and helpful towards me and my family. In short, we cannot fault the facilities and level of care and thoroughly recommend the nursing home.

Red Rocks a home from home

The staff are really caring and supportive to the patient and family.
The medical staff are very experienced and inspire confidence.
The environment is lovely and was always clean. No nursing home smells.
The catering was varied and tasty.
We were overwhelmed with how supportive and caring the staff are at Red Rocks are. I was really impressed that I never heard a cross word between staff and that they always had time for the patients. It felt like a home from home at a difficult time in our lives.

Wonderful care

Red Rocks provided end of life care for my father and at all times he was cared for superbly. he was at all times provided with everything he needed, ensuring he was safe and secure while maintaining his privacy and dignity. The home is run very professionally and this leadership filters down to all the staff. The staff cannot be faulted and it provided huge solace to the whole family to know that Dad was being looked after by such caring and kind people. The home itself is spotlessly clean and the food is of good quality and plentiful.

Excellent care and service from initial enquiry...

From my initial contract with the proprietor to the last day of my fathers stay, I have received nothing but professionalism and kindness.
A home visit from senior staff took place and when we arrived these staff welcomed us making the process less traumatic and a little easier on all concerned.
During his stay my father was treated with dignity, kindness and positive care and whilst he looked forward to returning home, he said he had really enjoyed his stay at Red Rocks.
I can confirm that each day when I visited, the staff welcomed me and I saw only continued improvement in my fathers wellbeing and I attribute this to the staff and environment of Red Rocks.
I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment if you are looking for exceptional care, cleanliness, good food and kindness.

Wonderful location and great staff

My father moved into Red Rocks Nursing Home in mid May 2016 after a few weeks in hospital and in an intermediate care unit in a care home in Claughton, and a few days in a residential home on a respite basis, having lived independently in his own home prior to this. The choice of Red Rocks was influenced, to a degree, by its very informative website and the philosophy of care which this described. In the short time that my father has been in Red Rocks, I have seen plenty of evidence that that this philosophy is actually being delivered, through both my own involvement with staff there and the care being given to my father, and my observation of the care being provided to other residents. Staff at Red Rocks have already identified a few care related matters which can be relatively easily addressed by early intervention which, sadly, the intermediate care unit overlooked or ignored as regards my father. My initial experience of Red Rocks enables me to be certain that it is very well managed, and its location is, without doubt, second to none. Once my father has been able to put behind him his recent experiences in hospital and the intermediate care unit, as well as his loss of independence, I am confident that he can look forward to renewed quality of life at Red Rocks.

Couldn't Be Better

My father in law was a resident of the home for a three months last year. We could not have chosen a better provider.
The home was spotless , the food was wonderful but most of all the care given by the staff was out of this world. Nothing was too much trouble , every member of staff was totally professional and carried out their duties amazingly well. The medical care received towards the end was so well handled and compassionate.

An excellent care home with high standards of care

I have recently resigned from my job as a Kitchen Assistant at Red Rocks in order to go travelling before I start university. I started this job when I had just turned 16 and have worked it for almost 3 years. Being that it was my first part-time job, I was very nervous when I first started. However this nervousness was unnecessary as I was welcomed very kindly and received endless help from all the staff. My experiences at Red Rocks have shown that this is a well organised establishment which always strives for the highest possible standard. The residents receive excellent care as well as nutritious, varied foods. In addition to this, the cleanliness of Red Rocks is always exemplary. If I had a relative who required residential care, I would not hesitate in choosing Red Rocks.

Excellent caring people and a lovely environment

My Dad self-admitted himself to Red Rocks when he realized that he could no longer care for himself. Initially, as we are 5,500 miles away, we were very concerned when we heard the news. We need not have been though. Right out the gate we got an email from Mike at Red Rocks and a visit to their website and a brief phone call allayed all our concerns. Following up with the nurses looking after Dad was great and they were very happy to talk to us and explain their care plan. It was very clear to us after being able to physically visit, and having heard many personal testimonies from Dad's visitors that his last days were in the best possible hands.

A Wonderful place with great people - thank you for all that you did.
