death sentence for my mum

great at first, we were so pleased they were able to take my mum.
Things went quickly downhill. Laundry missing or shrunk, food standard fell when the chef left. once mum didnt have a bath for 9 days the staff lied about it. Mum felt trapped, the promised trips out dwindled. Endless list of occurrences/ events which were worrying. Inc the staff not knowing very important facts about diabetes.
The last 2 weeks mum was there i knew there was something wrong with her but they didn't listen, her death is recorded as kidney injury, sometimes caused by dehydration. They just didn't have the staff to keep good records of fluid intake. Despite me pointing out to the senior nurse 5 drinks on her table which were brought by different carers in the course of a day which she hadn't drunk.
There were problems even after mum had passed away with some items missing from her room which we never go back. Mum died in hospital, we never even got as much as a phone call from the home, even though we knew they had phoned the hospital to see how mum was, A couple of weeks later they sent a letter sympathizing.
If I queried anything I was treated like an idiot. I reported them to the care commission and adult services who say that they have been told to make improvements.

My advice is not just for this home but for any care facility is, go there several times, eat there yourself, be an unexpected visitor. speak to other residents and relatives and be nosy, go into the kitchens open the fridges and find out when they had the last epidemic and what was it. Dont be polite and expect them to provide this sort of info. Treat it as if it was you going to live there.
It has taken quite sometime to be able to write this review as there have been ongoing enquirers into the standards in this care home during the period my mum was there. Now that the reports are done I feel able to share our experience, please note that there has been a chance of management and several staff have also change

Lovely home and excellent care

My partner has been a resident of Memory Lane in Cherry Blossom Manor for a year now and during this time I have been very pleased with the care he has received. He quickly settled in and seems happy and contented. All the staff are competent and friendly and the standard of care is excellent. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the home and gardens are well maintained. There are stimulating and varied activities. The food is very good and well presented. All in all an excellent care home

excellent and genuinely caring

Having moved my Aunt here from a care home that she'd been resident in for 3 years, I am so delighted and relieved to see the tremendous improvement in her mobility, general happiness and whole demeanour. The approach to, and standards of care are excellent. The provision of interesting, appropriate and stimulating activities is exceptional. The inside and outside spaces have been very thoughtfully and tastefully designed making it easy and very pleasant for residents to move around in.

First class care

My wife's aunt has been in the home since opening in Dec 2010. The facilities still look as good as they did when they opened. The staff very much involve family in the overall care plan and communication between management, staff, residents and family is excellent. The food is very good, level of stimulating activities excellent and the atmosphere is welcoming. The key factor is that my wife's aunt is very content and safe.

Friendly, professional and caring home.

From the first time we entered Cherry Blossom Manor we felt very relaxed. The staff were very welcoming, all made eye contact with immediate conversations. The facilities in the Memory Lane section are modern, being just a year old with areas celebrating weddings, wartime, seaside and garden. There is a small cafe where visitors can enjoy a relaxed cup of tea with the resident. We are extremely pleased with Cherry Blossom and relieved that we have found a good home for my mother.
