Cliveden Manor

top notch standards of care

We were delighted when we found Cliveden Manor and continue to be so. My mother has a real rapport with the carers, who are highly professional and genuinely care. After almost a year, this home continues to be everything we hoped it would be.

Great place for my mother

My mother moved into Cliveden Manor shortly after it opened. She was beginning to struggle a bit at home, but was fiercely independent and really needed the 'best of both worlds' ... somewhere where she could be looked after, but wouldn't feel she was giving up her independence. We were delighted and relieved to find this with Cliveden Manor. Mum has made some lovely friends and enjoyed many of the activities on offer. She has a large, lovely room with her own things around her. One of the things we all really liked was the fact she could make herself a cup of tea in her own room when she wanted to! As a family we are just all so relieved she is safe and happy. Now mum is having more care and we have also got to know the staff; they are a fantastic team and nothing is too much trouble.

Please be careful what you choose

We had high hopes for Clivedon when we registered mum as one of the first residents. At the time it was advertised as a care home, the sales staff are good at what they do and mum decided to move. The first years were fine but staff changes, including the major part of the management team lead to disarray. Mum got repeated infections from low sodium and there began a series of unfortunate mis managed care mishaps. Mum became depressed at the chaos, the food declined significantly in quality and handing out daily medicine was erratic at best - caused by a high number of agency staff. At no time did a Clivedon manager contact the relatives to explain what was happening. In the event we as a family became so concerned that we threw ourselves into the hands of the NHS who came up trumps. We have just moved mum into a local small care home. On the day we moved mum out the manageress of Clivedon literally bumped into mum, did not acknowledge her and did not stop to wish her well. mum was personally shaken at such unprofessional and uncaring behavior. Mum had been a resident for several years.

We understand now from experience that Clivedon is a smart residential lifestyle home for senior people. It cannot manage a care portfolio. Perhaps time to be very upfront about that.
