Christ Church Street French Nursery

Not a good nursery

It is a very disappointing choice for parents despite whatever is said online. The website has not been updated since July 2017. There is no clear following of Early Years Foundation provision and no reporting nor end of term meeting about children's progress. The staff keeps mixing French and English (which is a recipe for a disaster if you wanted your child to be bilingual). No Christmas or Spring performance (not even songs singing for parents). No trips, even local. The weekly plan was a mess and they lied to us about providing the extra classes (that anyway, you would have to pay for extra). The older children were usually mixed with much younger ones (18 months old with 3.5 years old) so no evident set of programmes for two separate groups to make sure kids learn at their appropriate level. No artwork was sent home (apart from once or twice) and no online journal, where we could see some notes about the children and photos of what they have been up to. In addition the system of communicating with parents was frantic and ad hoc. By pasting a note in the child's notebook rather than sending regular emails as soon as any change happens. The staff turnover is high. Between September 2018 and July 2019 I saw 6 new faces and some lasted one or two weeks, some for 2-3 months. We would only find out about the changes after a while when we asked. With the new staff we were not made aware about their profiles and qualifications - just 'a new person Mr or Miss are joining us.' The invoicing was messy and we got three times a completely different request for fees to pay (usually much higher, all sent by an accountant). Despite many promises on improving the place by the owner nothing really changed and I feared my son, who is now 2.5 years old would not receive a good pre-school foundation. The Christ Church French nursery seems to be a 'nursery school' as it is pictured on their very outdated website but with the very high fees it does not stand to its potential.

I don't recommend this setting

I first enrolled my child after a visit as my first feeling was positive. However; after a month, I realised this nursery was not doing a lot of activities, the room Is quiet small and they don't go out a lot as the playground belongs to the primary school. The bathroom for children is not appropriate from them and not very clean neither. I have tried to communicate with the manager but she is never around and barely available even on the phone. I decided to finish the term
And then found another nursery saying we moved out of the area. One last thing. It's very expensive if you compare with other around Chelsea / Kensington.
