Meet the Good Care Guide Team
Creating an independent forum for care reviews
Ben Black and Stephen Burke had the idea to set up Good Care Guide in early 2012. The site launched later that year, and since then has welcomed over 2.1 million visitors.
Good Care Guide now receives around 4,000 visits a day from parents and families looking for relevant and useful information on our 65,098 childcare and eldercare providers across the UK, and is home to thousands of reviews.
Meet some of our team...
Ben Black, Founder
As the father of twins, Ben knows all about the pressures of balancing work and family life. Ben began his career working as a City lawyer. In 2000, he and his brother Ollie bought Tinies, which went on to become the biggest nanny agency in the UK.
In 2005 they founded My Family Care - with the unique proposition of offering clients a complete family-friendly employee benefits package.
Ben is fascinated with how technology can make better use of resources for those in need. Nanny Share, Emergency Childcare and now Good Care Guide have all, in their different ways, filled important gaps in the care market.
Ben continues to work with Tinies and is also a non-executive director at AnyJunk, the UK's largest rubbish clearance company. A French wife, 3 young children and the occasional marathon keep Ben busy in his spare time.
Stephen Burke, Founder
Stephen is keen to ensure that care providers take on board the views of families using their services.
Along with his wife, Denise, Stephen set up United for All Ages in 2010, a social enterprise bringing older and younger people together. Stephen is also a trustee of several national and local charities and is co-chair of Grandparents Plus.
Andy Major, Director
Andy runs the Good Care Guide on a day-to-day basis, supported by account management, PR and website teams who look after our members, the platform, review moderation and on-going service development.
Andy enjoys seeing transparency and honesty in action, and sees Good Care Guide as a valuable platform for encouraging and promoting such sentiment across the UK care sector.
But our most important team member...
... is of course you! Our vision was to create an independent and impartial website where users of care in the UK can review their care providers for the benefit of others. So if you've used a childcare or eldercare provider, join the team and:
